She's a mainstream anesthetist so hopefully may have some clue what tests I can order on insurance here in NZ.. not sure how it differs to the NHS. I've ordered Naltrexone, so going to measure into low doses and looking into helminth therapy. May try a week of low dose prednisone.. see how I feel. I'm just testing the water with all these therapies at this stage. I'm cautious about taking lactobacillus orally as my immune system seems to react to it (I get a skin rash). I'm trying to fix SIBO with Rifaximin and elemental diet, before heading towards a GAPS diet, so I might try and look into rectally administering the probiotics in an enema for now.Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13685366728650876234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655962722302095847.post-80280478339568369582020-04-28T11:45:48.941+02:002020-04-28T11:45:48.941+02:00Go to your local special school for autism and ID ...Go to your local special school for autism and ID and ask the Principal where all the other girls are kept. It can be used at low doses for long term (with tapering on cessation) or at high doses for short term use, but you do get side effects. The very short term use 1 to 5 days does not require tapering the dose and has the least chance of side effects - this use is good for an immune flare up like an asthma attack or a PANS/PANDAS-like episode.

Since you do not have a short-term flare up, I doubt Prednisone will help you unless you look it long term, which is highly unadvisable, unless you have a condition like severe pain from arthritis.

You probably are best with a mild immunomodulatory therapy, of which there are many. A new one is the so-called "Psychobiotic" Lactobacillus plantarum PS128, which is sold widely in Asia and now in Europe and the US. It reduces inflammatory cytokines, increases anti-inflammatory cytokines and also affects serotonin and dopamine. It needs to be kept in the fridge.
Peter Lloyd-Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10173383229834614994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655962722302095847.post-1233485728849386072020-04-28T04:43:55.653+02:002020-04-28T04:43:55.653+02:00Hi Peter, It's interesting that you mention pr...Hi Peter, It's interesting that you mention prednisone. I recently stumbled across Dr Fasano's work on leaky gut and I've definitely been having some successes with the Carnivore Diet in addressing some of these issues. My remaining issue appears to be immune overactivation, and I've had some success so far with NAC. I'm still waiting on the pregnenolone to arrive, but I may look into the Prednisone after I've finished this. I'm just a little unsure what kind of dose and how long for, in order to "reset" the immune system? Are the effects of a prednisone shock permanent to immune suppression?Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13685366728650876234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655962722302095847.post-58912991517122857102016-05-10T18:12:02.653+02:002016-05-10T18:12:02.653+02:00"Both affects boys much more than girls"..."Both affects boys much more than girls"

Psychologists have discovered that Autism affects just as many girls.

(I am a female with both Aspergers and Asthma)VeeBee15https://www.blogger.com/profile/00787843905522600100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655962722302095847.post-40953242008648548172014-01-25T02:23:09.769+01:002014-01-25T02:23:09.769+01:00http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC355224...http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3552246/
HDAC2 activity upregulated by long term anti-psychotic use, reducing effectivity. This might explain the mechanism for some steroid induced psychosis also, if there is a direct promotion of HDAC2 activity.
The link to HDAC2 is really interesting vis findings with valproate (HDAC inhibitor) use during pregnancy and autism in offspring.
Also the increased rates of smoking in schizophrenics would make new sense in light of the above research and what you posted above.
Thankyou for sharing your research, it is always interesting.
Janet Gasparnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655962722302095847.post-88354582485469045062013-09-11T06:09:13.978+02:002013-09-11T06:09:13.978+02:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05436595372377447869noreply@blogger.com
